Not that Mr. Cantor would - I've already written to him about his violating all of the 613 Mitzvot about the poor.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465072391199760560.post-27192411175035703012013-02-16T12:04:39.261-06:002013-02-16T12:04:39.261-06:00Forgiven.....since you mentioned the Mitford girls...Forgiven.....since you mentioned the Mitford girls; they are the stuff of legends! Marco Rubio (the party's "savior") is drinking the same Kool-Aid. I could only watch about 3 minutes of his "response" to SOTU before switching channels. It was that or upchuck. Obviously he was just regurgitating the standard Rethug talking points, probably from a teleprompter considering there was none of the passion of his speech at the GOP convention.

I have to disagree that this year's SOTU was nothing but a repeat of previous years. There was something different this time, perhaps because Obama so successfully frustated the GOP's efforts to make him a one-term prez. I think he put the Geriatric Obstructionist Party on notice that he won't be playing nice-nice any more. (Only time will tell how that works out...)

As for the pope's retirement, Ratzinger should never have been elevated to that position in the first place. In fact, if Vatican insiders' scuttlebutt is accurate, he pretty much bullied (or blackmailed) the other cardinals into choosing him. Considering he was the previous pope's #2 guy for so many years, he had access to the dirty secrets of each and every one and apparently wasn't above using them to get his way. History, of course, shows he was not a very effective pope, and I suspect the decision to retire was his own. Better retirement than a dose of hemlock in his bedtime toddy.

Glad to hear your "broken wing" is healing nicely, and apologies for not coming around the last few weeks. I've been devouring a stack of books about the Devonshires of Chatsworth in Derbyshire and the present Dowager Duchess's Mitford sisters. Political intrigue on steroids!JamaGeniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16973656461323918279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465072391199760560.post-88621267557183167022013-02-14T09:55:42.458-06:002013-02-14T09:55:42.458-06:00Personally, I'm waiting for the State of the U...Personally, I'm waiting for the State of the Union address.
--------

I watched it, and I found that I could actually finish Mr. Obama's sentences, after hearing the same thing coming out of his lips for the past (what feels like) 8 years.

--dougAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465072391199760560.post-44427515046855245862013-02-12T09:09:07.313-06:002013-02-12T09:09:07.313-06:00I can't believe Virginia fell for Cantor's...I can't believe Virginia fell for Cantor's fake southern accent.Armandhttp://mydogs.namenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465072391199760560.post-11741376304500264322013-02-12T09:06:48.335-06:002013-02-12T09:06:48.335-06:00Not being a Catholic and all, I was hesitant to co...Not being a Catholic and all, I was hesitant to comment on the Pope's departure until there was more reliable information avaialable.
