What If...

Where is Clouseau when you need him?
What if we are all looking at the general behavior of the GOP the wrong way?

What if the real purpose of the demands to overturn the elections, the threats to Georgia state officials, the noises about fleeing to Scotland before the inauguration...are all very noisy red herrings?

What if all those conspiracy theories are not the right conspiracy theories to be poo-pooing?

What if all of this is just a show to divert attention away from the long-term purpose?

I was listening to CBS News this morning, and Ian Bremmer, head of Eurasia Group, a risk analysis company, was interviewed, talking about the global risks of 2021. He said something that caught my attention. He said Joe Biden's presidency will have an "asterisk,"  like A-Rod or Barry Bonds, meaning that the record doesn't count. Hear what he has to say:

CBS Morning New, January 4, 2021

The more I listened, the more I began to think about the asterisk. When you see one, you usually look to see what the "but" is, because you instinctively know it's there because something is not quite right. Bremmer points out about half this country thinks this election is fraudulent. Those senators stepping up to challenge the Electoral College on Wednesday know that. That's why the number is growing. McConnell knows the election is lost, but he's also worried about what happened tomorrow (or today, if you're reading this on Tuesday) in Georgia.

But what if the leaders of the cabal want the two Democrats to win? Wouldn't that add fuel to the fraud fire? Would that not slow everything down as recount after recount is demanded, thereby hogtying Congress and delaying any federal governmental action?

What if these are all carefully placed dominoes just waiting to be pushed over? Is this a giant Rube Goldberg machine so complex in twists and turns that you cannot even see the curtain, much less look behind it?

Then read a FaceBook posting by a conspiracy theorist dentist from Cedarhurst, Gila Sandhaus Jedwab, who says she's an Orthodox Jew but reads like one of those rapture people. This was so unhinged that anyone with two brain cells firing in synch would be measuring her for a straitjacket.  But I wasn't laughing.  She also promotes L. Lin Wood...and even the GOP is backing away from him. However, that is not important.

What is important is that she is neither alone nor a voice in the whirlwind. She is mainstream crazy and we would do well to take note of that. There are lots of people, probably at 70,000,000 or so, who agree with her.

The Raffensperger call: (click link for full recording and transcript)
Meadows: Okay. Alright. Mr. President, everyone is on the line. This is Mark Meadows, the chief of staff. Just so we all are aware. On the line is secretary of state and two other individuals. Jordan and Mr. Germany with him. You also have the attorneys that represent the president, Kurt and Alex and Cleta Mitchell — who is not the attorney of record but has been involved — myself and then the president. So Mr. President, I’ll turn it over to you.
Now, humor me here:

Feckless Leader and his cabal continue to rant about the election, spewing conspiracy theories that have been debunked, and debunked again. He calls up the Raffensperger guy and threatens him in no uncertain terms. Does he know the call is recorded? Considering who he is and who is with him in the room, they HAD to know that call was recorded.

Raffensperger's people leak the call. Two things happen...some people get all riled up to get out the vote, but a surprising number of people begin saying the election is rigged, so why bother?

Point of Observation: In states where Biden/Harris took the state, but Republicans still won House and Senate seats, why aren't those guys declaring their own elections invalid? Why would this giant conspiracy fix just the presidential one and not both to shift the balance of power in Congress? Just wondering about that.

Now, let's guess that the two Democrats win in Georgia and the balance of the Senate shifts to Democrat. Is that going to be great fodder to whip all those true believers into a bigger frenzy?

As the nation tries to right its course, the cabal continues to sow seeds of distrust and division. 34 Senate seats are up for re-election in 2022, along with the entire House. Wouldn't it be significantly easier to attempt to derail the midterm election in preparation for the main event in 2024? The midterm would give the cabal a chance to practice, as well as begin to move the pieces on the chessboard around to see who will be their candidate of choice...which may very well be Feckless Leader.

Back when I was a working-stiff, I got into a debate with one of the obergruppenführers about the need to think about immediate need while planning for long range. This was one of my favorite soapboxes back then, and perhaps the most frustrating. My position was that you had to have a certain amount of foresight without losing the sense of the importance of that which is right in front of you. The immediate needs of the worker population had to be the base of the long term plan; to ignore that need would risk catastrophic failure down the road because you would have lost the both the skills and trust of those who perform the base tasks of the business.

The cabal understands that concept perfectly.  They are prepping the base. Each defeat at the polls is a long term victory for them. Feckless Leader doesn't get that. He's a mobster; he only sees the immediate win, nothing past that. His cabal, however, has become expert at manipulating the base, and slowly moving it along the Sedition Road.

I have quoted Aaron Sorkin a zillion times in this blog, but his script for THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT was prescient:
We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections.

He was right about that. Lots of people love that speech, including me. It was a scene from a movie, but now I can't help wondering if Sorkin unwittingly gave the cabal the first part of the playbook.

The last time our nation was divided like this, the Civil War split the country in two like one of Lincoln's rails. The groundwork being laid for the division split may be similar, but the desired result is different: the cabal seeks to topple this constitutional republic with its rules of check and balances in order to install a totalitarian government.

The short form: we are in the middle of a coup d'etat.

Is it too late to salvage what is left our Constitutional Federal Republic? Hard to say. This is not over.
